I was also there, in Koln, with the friends of the fotoclub and I visited the railway station. I took some pictures there myself...

Temse "Pearl at the river Schelde" (2)
|
|
In my entry of yesterday, I told you something about the history of Temse.
Temse is situated at the left side of the River "Schelde". I took these pictures with a view on Temse from the right side of the river, under the Bridge of Temse.
Two times the same picture, but focussed totally different.

Temse "Pearl at the River Schelde" (1)
|
|
At about 20 km from the place where I live is a small town, named Temse. I know the town quite well, because my parents-in-law live there.
In this entry, I want to show you some statues, made by the sculptor Valeir Peirsman, telling something about the history of Temse.
On the first 4 pictures you see "de kaailopers". These 4 men, loading and unloading ships in Temse long time ago (some kind of dockworkers) were famous but also notorious. You better tried to avoid every dispute with them...
On # 2 in the background, you'll also notice a crane, which stands symbol for the famous ShipYard "Boel werf". The "Boel Werf" made a lot of big and famous ships, but unfortunately it went bankrupt about 15 years ago...
# 5 and #6 show you the statue of "De Azijnzeker" and "Den Tysscher". The nickname of the people living in Temse is "Azijnzeker" (somebody pissing vinegar). They've got this nickname, because there was a factory making vinegar in Temse. "Den Tysscher" is somebode who's playing at dice. I suppose that people of Temse were also famous (or notorious?) gamblers.
On #5 in the background, you can also see the "Bridge of Temse", up to now the longest bridge in Belgium.
So, that is enough history for today! Enjoy the pictures...

Dance (Black and White)
|
|
Finally,
As I promised sometime ago, here are the first black and white "dance" pictures.
They are all photos of a rehearsal and actually, the pictures themselves are also a rehearsal. I should manage to take one good "dance-photo" for our exhibition (fotoclub Visie) end of May.

Stekene seen from my bicycle
|
|
I took this picture last summer when I was riding around Stekene, my village, by bicycle. This picture was taken with a single use camera, because I don't take the risk to carry one of my good (and expensive) cameras with me on my bicycle. I'm aware of my riding-style and capacities. So it is not so bad when I fall down with a single use camera.
This is one of the results. Please note that I did not fall down at all during that trip.
